August 2025 Windows 10 Non-Security Preview Update

Microsoft released KB5063842 for Windows 10 version 22H2 optional non-security release preview (Windows monthly updates explained).

Note:  The September non-security preview update will be the final non-security preview update for Windows 10 2262.

Key Issues Addressed

  • [Common Controls] Fixed: An issue that affects how certain supplementary characters appear in Windows textboxes.
  • [Input and Composition] Fixed: An issue with the Chinese Simplified Input Method Editor (IME). Some extended characters were shown as empty boxes.
  • [Licensing] New! This update adds a new feature that allows customers using the Windows 10 keyless Commercial ESU solution—alongside a Windows 365 subscription—to block outbound network traffic. This enhancement supports compliance with Zero Exhaust policies.
  • [Mobile Operator Profiles] Updated: Country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA) profiles.
  • [Multimedia] Fixed: An issue where mf.dll failed to enumerate redirected web camera devices on Remote Desktop Services (RDS) environments.
  • [Windows Hello] Fixed: An issue in which Narrator reads the incorrect name for the "Enhance Facial Recognition Protection" check box under the Facial Recognition setting.
  • [Search pane] Fixed: An issue that might cause the Windows Search pane to not show the preview pane correctly.
  • [Family Safety] Fixed: An issue where the "Ask to Use" approval flow was not being triggered for blocked apps. With this fix, the approval flow now appears as expected when a blocked app is accessed.
  • [Portable Devices] Fixed: An issue where the Removeable Storage Access policy may not work properly.
  • [Windows Backup for Organizations] New! Windows Backup for Organizations is now generally available! Experience seamless device transitions with enterprise-grade backup and restore. Whether you're refreshing your organization's devices, upgrading to Windows 11, or deploying AI-powered PCs, this solution helps sustain productivity with minimal disruption, ensuring business continuity and organizational resilience.


If you installed earlier updates, only the new updates contained in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

July 2025 Windows 10 Non-Security Preview Update

 Microsoft released KB5062649 for Windows 10 version 22H2 optional non-security release preview (Windows monthly updates explained).

Key Issues Addressed

  • ​​​​​[Extended Security Updates] Fixed: An issue impacting the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) enrollment wizard. Some users experienced a problem where clicking “Enroll now” caused the wizard window to open, begin loading, and then close unexpectedly. This occurred due to incomplete app registration, which prevented the wizard from loading correctly. This update addresses that issue to ensure a smoother enrollment experience.

  • [Mobile Operator Profiles] Updated: Country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA) profiles.

  • [Secure Boot] New!  Adds the ability to deploy SKUSiPolicy VBS Anti-rollback protections through the Secure Boot AvailableUpdates registry key.

  • [Core File Systems] Fixed: An issue observed in rare cases after installing the May 2025 security update and subsequent updates causing devices to experience stability issues. Some devices became unresponsive and stopped responding in specific scenarios.

  • [Input]


    • Fixed: A known issue with the Microsoft Changjie Input Method. Users were unable to select words after a recent update.

    • Fixed: A known issue when searching for an emoji in the emoji panel. After a recent update, the search always returns no results.

    • Fixed: An issue in which phonetic input methods, including the Hindi Phonetic Input keyboard and Marathi Phonetic keyboard do not work correctly after a recent update.

June 2025 Windows 10 Non-Security Preview Update

 Microsoft released KB5061087 for Windows 10 version 22H2 optional non-security release preview (Windows monthly updates explained).

Key Issues Addressed


​​​​​[Mobile Operator Profiles]

  • Updated: Country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA) profiles.

[App Platforms and Frameworks]

  • Fixed: An issue affecting Component Object Model (COM) functionality on Windows platforms. Remote COM activations were failing with error 0x8001011.

  • Updated: The version of the curl tool included in Windows is updated to v8.13.0.

[Authentication Platform]

[Input and Composition]

  • Fixed: An issue affecting the complete removal of unused language packs and Feature on Demand (FOD) packages. This issue led to unnecessary storage use and increased Windows update installation time.

[Print and Peripherals]

  • Fixed: An issue affecting USB-connected Multi-Function printers with dual protocol interfaces. Scanning failed and prevented using the built-in scanning functionality in the operating system.

[Start Menu]

  • Fixed: An issue causing jump lists to disappear from the Start Menu.

  • Fixed: An issue where the Start Menu was not starting after installing an update.

[WinSaS]

  • Fixed: Settings > System > About incorrectly shows version 2009 instead of version 22H2.

  • Change of behavior: To maintain DMA compliance in the European Economic Area (EEA), when a new default browser is set, it is automatically pinned to the Taskbar and Start menu.

  • Change of behavior: Associates HTTP and .pdf file types when setting default browser.

[Servicing]

  • Fixed: An issue where Kiosk devices using the ForceAutoLogon configuration and Shift Override might stop responding with a blue screen after being locked and unlocked by support administrators.

[File Server]

  • Fixed: An issue where the system may stop responding when acknowledging an Oplock break request on resources located on SMB shares.

May 2025 Windows 10 Non-Security Preview Update

 Microsoft released KB5058481 for Windows 10 version 22H2 optional non-security release preview (Windows monthly updates explained).

Highlights


[Calendar flyout]

  • Brings back the clock view that displays seconds onto the calendar that was once removed.
  • Enhances the Rich Calendar feature by extending the upcoming events period to 30 days.
  • Adds description text for the Weather button in the Rich Calendar feature.

[GDI/GDI+]

  • Fixed: Some GB18030-2022 characters in plane 2 are not rendered.
  • Fixed: Some GB18030 characters are rendered wider. Additionally, the sample paragraph is not rendered correctly.

[WinSaS]

  • Fixed: An issue affecting the Windows Account Sync Consent system in European Economic Area markets, where secondary accounts were not acknowledged, leading to increased server load.

April 2025 Windows 10 Non-Security Preview Update

  • [Internal Windows OS] This update contains miscellaneous security improvements to internal Windows OS functionality.

Improvements

  • [Graphics] Fix: The check for GPU paravirtualization was case-sensitive in Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 (WSL2). This issue might potentially cause GPU paravirtualization support to fail.

  • [OS Security] Updates to the Windows Kernel Vulnerable Driver Blocklist (DriverSiPolicy.p7b). Additions have been made to blocklist drivers with security vulnerabilities that have been used in Bring Your Own Vulnerable Driver (BYOVD) attacks.

  • [System Guard Runtime Monitor Broker service (Known issue)] Fixed: The Windows Event Viewer might display an error related to SgrmBroker.exe, on devices that have installed Windows updates released January 14, 2025, or later. This error can be found under Windows Logs > System as Event 7023, with text similar to ‘The System Guard Runtime Monitor Broker service terminated with the following error: %%3489660935’.

October 2024 Windows 10 Non-Security Preview Update

 Microsoft released KB5045594 for Windows 10 version 22H2 optional non-security release preview (Windows monthly updates explained).

Highlights
  • [Start menu] New! This update starts the roll out of the new account manager on the Start menu. The new design makes it easy to view your account and access account settings. To change to a different user, select the ellipses (...) next to Sign out. The Lock command is now on the power menu. Note This change might not be available to all users because it will roll out gradually.
  • [ Multi-Function Printer (MFP) ]
    • Fixed: When you use a USB cable to connect to it, it prints specific network command text when you do want it to.
    • Fixed: A scanner driver fails to install when you use a USB cable to connect to an MFP.

June 2024 Windows 10 Non-Security Preview Update

 Microsoft released KB5039299 for Windows 10 version 22H2 optional non-security release preview (Windows monthly updates explained).

Highlights

§  This update addresses an issue that affects an app’s jump list on the taskbar. Completing actions from that list might fail. A jump list is a menu that appears when you right-click an app on the taskbar or Start menu. It gives you quick access to recently or frequently used app items.

§  This update addresses an issue that affects the default Japanese Input Method Editor (IME). The candidate window stops responding when you do not expect it. Then, it goes back to a former composition state at random.

§  This update addresses a known issue that might occur when you right-click some apps. Instead of running the task you choose from the context menu, an “Open with” dialog appears. It asks you, "How do you want to open this file?" This issue might affect any app that has tasks on a context menu. This issue also affects the icons on the taskbar and Start menu.

April 2024 Windows 10 Non-Security Preview Update

 Microsoft released KB5036979 for Windows 10 version 22H2 optional non-security release preview (Windows monthly updates explained).

Highlights included in the update:
  • New! This update starts the rolls out of account-related notifications for Microsoft accounts in Settings > Home. A Microsoft account connects Windows to your Microsoft apps. The account also backs up all your data and helps you to manage your subscriptions. You can also add extra security steps to keep you from being locked out of your account. This feature displays notifications across the Start menu and Settings. You can manage your Settings notifications in Settings > Privacy & security > General.

  • New!  This update affects Widgets on the lock screen. They are more reliable and have improved quality. This update also supports more visuals and a more customized experience for you.

  • This update addresses an issue that affects some wireless earbuds. Bluetooth connections are not stable. This occurs on devices that have firmware from April 2023 and later.

  • This update makes some changes to Windows Search. It is now more reliable, and it is easier to find an app after you install it. This update also gives you a personalized app search experience.
