I used to be a loyal ZA fan, and used/recommended it for years ... but the last few upgrades have really tested my patience.
ReplyDeleteI have a question.
ReplyDeleteZA's Pro states I must uninstall my Kerio firewall due to compatibility issues.
Kerio is a great little firewall, should I go with ZA or just stay with Kerio, which is a product you recommended to me quite a while ago.
I am so tired of AVG I can not begin to tell you. It's a CPU hog for starters and their upgrade problems are driving me crazy this last year.
Please advise,
Dusty :)
Hi, Dusty.
ReplyDeleteIf you are happy with Kerio and not having issues, do you really want to fix what isn't broken?
However, if you wish to try ZA, first save the Kerio installation file to backup. Then create a system restore point and name it something you will recognize (i.e. BeforeZA). Then install ZA. If you find you don't care for it, that it takes up too much resources, or some other reason, uninstall it and reinstall Kerio.
The reason I suggested creating a System Restore point is because if the ZA installation (or any software install) does not go right, you can restore your computer to the point before the installation. However, that is not a permanent "out" because restore points "cycle out" and are not available forever. In addition, other system changes are made and would be lost.
With regard to AVG, there are two excellent products free for personal use.
