Running two resident anti-virus software programs is not recommended as they can cause serious conflicts.

With specific reference to AVG and SpywareBlaster & SBSD, see this FAQ: Infection detected in "ActiveX Compatibility" registry key. Then read this thread at Wilders: spyware blaster not compatable with AVG 8.0, most particularly post #16 by Javacool which explains why the AVG FAQ is wrong with regard to the immunize function of both SpywareBlaster and Spybot Search and Destroy.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware software is not an anti-virus software. The subscription version has a "Protection Module" which (like WinPatrol) uses heuristics to block intrusions before they can happen.

If you decide to continue with AVG, I suggest you consider the MVPS Hosts file (an excellent addition anyway and recommended over SpywareBlaster for anyone using Windows Vista). See <A HTTP://WWW.MVPS.ORG/WINHELP2002/HOSTS.HTM HREF="" REL="nofollow">MVPS HOSTS file.

I hope this helps.

CorrineCorrinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02110007723754751966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30199100.post-84802395668297327902008-06-07T03:12:00.000-04:002008-06-07T03:12:00.000-04:00Corrine:As of two days ago I now use AVG Free AV 8...Corrine:

As of two days ago I now use AVG Free AV 8.0.1. It breaks the Spybot Search and Destroy and Spyware Blaster. Which I am mad to see happen. Would malwarebytes replace those?

Thanks
CelesteAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
