The backups made by OneCare are .zip files that can be opened with WinZip and other 3rd party compression tools.

Any files that are too large for a single zip file were split by OneCare and will need to be renamed with extensions of .000, .001, .002, etc. and rejoined using a free utility available from here: http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/ after extraction. Yes, this process can be tedious -- first to find the files you want to restore and second to rejoin files, if needed, but it works."Corrinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02110007723754751966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30199100.post-68777578169548131032012-07-13T18:50:46.765-04:002012-07-13T18:50:46.765-04:00Nice website. I don't have it on an older computer running XP However I have old files on CD and Ext HD that have files that were backed up by it. (I had a computer crash which lost the files and Windows Live OneCare) OneCare I can't install it because it wants to first check for updates (which are non-existant) so I can't appear to use the link mentioned above because it wants to see Windows Live OneCare I assume apparently because it can't start when I try it. Is there any hope or is this the wrong place to ask? Thank you.
Dick dkandcar@gmail.comDick Andersonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30199100.post-89904838119662213892011-07-05T02:47:39.087-04:002011-07-05T02:47:39.087-04:00Nice article.
